They say that you are your own toughest client, and it’s true. After working on this off and on in various forms and designs for well over a year, I developed the fourth version of my personal website. I had split my graphic design work from my fine art, and this is the result.

Visually, the goal was to create a design that let the art be the hero, which actually fits rather well with my design philosophy (communicate, don’t decorate), so the grays worked very well with the urban theme of the artwork.

From a technical standpoint, this site takes advantage of using WordPress as a full-fledged CMS (content management system). The home page is different from the rest of the site, featuring a large image, excerpts from the two most recent blog posts and the most recent addition to the portfolio. The portfolio section actually lives in the WordPress database, comprised of posts in a particular category separate from the blog. (Now this can be done with custom content types, which is how it is done on this site.) Also, the blog features thumbnails for each post.
